Single Parents

Our next social event will be a July 4th gathering at Worlds Fair
Park. The Festival on the Fourth is a fun-filled time for everyone
that includes food vendors, a free children’s area with inflatable
games and an arts and crafts tent. There is also live musical
entertainment. The Knoxville Symphony Orchestra (KSO) closes out the
evening with an outdoor concert while providing the background music
to the brilliant fireworks display. SPF will begin gathering on the
lawn near the main stage around 5 pm. Bring chairs, blankets and a
picnic. If you would like to bring a dish to share you are welcome to
do so. Last year we had desserts, chips and drinks available to pass.

Second Saturday Concert Schedule

KNOXVILLE, Tenn.—The Second Saturday Concerts at The Cove will continue this year with a wide variety of entertainment for the entire family. The free concerts, held the Second Saturday of each month, June through September, take place from 6-8 p.m. at The Cove in Concord Park, 11808 Northshore Drive.

The schedule for this summer is:

July 12 – The Dirty Guv’nahs, southern rock, voted MetroPulse’s Best Band 2008;
August 9 – The 572nd Air Force Band, patriotic and big band music; and
September 13 – The Retroholics, classic 80’s rock and pop.

The Cove features several other summertime amenities, including a beach, playground, sand volleyball court, walking trail and fishing areas. RiverSports also rents canoes and kayaks on site.

Prior to each Second Saturday concert, local Girl Scout troops will coordinate craft activities for children beginning at 5 p.m. These activities are also free. In addition, vendors will be on site with food and drinks for sale.

Two Rivers Church will be hosting this Beth Moore simulcast on August 1 & 2. Worship will be led by Travis Cottrell. Cost is $30 which includes a continental breakfast on Saturday morning. For further information or to purchase tickets, contact Roberta Truza at 470-2820 X. 108

Being a single parent is anything but easy. But the good news is that with God’s help, we don’t merely have to survive the challenges of single parenting: we can actually be successful in raising great kids. At Fellowship, we desire to promote a positive approach to helping our children adjust to the challenges of being in a single parent family. We provide support and help for the single parent and an opportunity for our children to socialize in a safe, healing environment.
